A visit to the farm

We took a visit to my grandparents farm last weekend. It was my first traveling and overnight stay with boys solo. It took us about 3 hours to get there, with one stop to feed little Logan.

We had a great time, although it was HOT! Thank You A/C!

This trip was extra special because Logan met his great grandparents for the first time. I know Great-Granny loved holding him! Luke had lots a fun running around and checking everything out. He is fascinated with the cows and riding on the Gator.

Here are pics from our weekend trip...

Visiting the cows...there were 10 calves too!

Riding the tractor...and checking out the engine

He loves taking rides with Grandpa on the Gator!

and then it was off to ride Clarence the pig!
(we decided that next time we are going to paint him!)

It has been a while since I have been able to go back to the farm. I have so many special memories from my childhood to adulthood there. Many good times, and lots of hard work. I miss being able to go there on a regular basis. But I look forward to many more trips and watching my boys love it the same way I have.

Happy Birthday America!

Happy 4th of July!

We celebrated Logan's first July 4th with grandparents! We grilled and enjoyed the A/C. My parents wanted to take Luke for the rest of the weekend to his great-grandparents farm. He is having a blast with all the cows and the donkey. And of course riding on the gator!

We are spending the rest of the weekend, just hanging out with little Logan. It has been a wonderful weekend thus far...but a little too quiet without Luke! :) We went to dinner last night and this mommy got to treat herself to a much needed pedicure and hair cut. I cannot believe that I chopped off another 4 inches of my hair.

I am glad that Luke is having a wonderful time and thankful that all his grandparents are close that he can spend time with them all. They enjoy each other so much. I cannot wait to see him this evening. I am excited to hear him go on and on about all the animals.

Below are a few more pictures from hanging out with the grandparents...

We are so thankful for a wonderful country, the many freedoms and blessings that we have!

Happy Birthday America!

Catching Up

I am about a month behind on the blog...probably longer than that, but I am catching up today with highlights from the past month. It's hard to believe that Logan is 5 weeks old already. And that I will be returning to work in 3 weeks.

A quick run down...

Heather:
I have been recovering from my c-section. I little bit harder the second time around for sure. The first three weeks, I was very restricted on what I could NOT do...which included picking up Luke. That was the hardest! For the first time in over two years I could not pick him up. I know it was a must, but it was still hard. The second hardest was not being able to drive. It's like someone took my freedom away...crazy I know. The last couple weeks I am pretty much back to a somewhat normal routine. I pretty much do everything I did before (there are few things I still have to wait a couple more weeks). There are days that I push myself way too hard, and I pay for it the following couple days with soreness. But overall, I feel really good and am glad to know be so restricted. I love being able to pick up Luke again!

Brett:
Is hard working and getting ready for budget season at work. He helped me out a lot around the house when I was down those first few weeks. I love him for it too! He is staying busy and in the little down time he has, enjoys catching a nap with either Luke or Logan.

Luke:
Well, this little fella hits the ground running in the mornings and doesn't want to stop at night. He is going to preschool 3 days a week, which is keeping him busy. He is GREAT big brother! I am so proud of him! There are too many moments when he does or says stuff that just brings a tear to my eyes or makes me burst into laughter. He is growing up so fast! He is going through a stage where is scared of things he wasn't afraid of before. The biggest one right now is fireworks! I was actually glad for his sake that he was at the farm last night when all the fire works were going off. He is scared to hear them even in the house. He is getting over an ear infection. He will have that re-checked this week. Overall his is quite the character in this household! He is so full of energy!

Logan:
He is 5 weeks old now! He is very alert when he is awake and really focusing on us. We still get the "what are you doing" look a lot...along with the old man wrinkles on the forehead. YAY for me, because I just love kissing those little wrinkles. I have caught two "real" smiles this past week (and of course no camera in sight)! We cannot forget the little sounds that he makes! Just precious to hear. He is still battling a little cold and it looks like another trip to the doctor tomorrow. His poor little cough has gotten really bad over the weekend. He sleeping pretty good at night, and will sleep for about a 5 hour stretch. He is mommy's little cutie pie!

Overall, we are all doing well. Staying busy and loving life as a family of four! We are still avoiding crowded public places since Logan has a cold. But hopefully this next weekend we will get to go to church as a family. I will try to do better at keeping up with my blog. Catching it all up takes forever!

Happy Father's Day!

It was a busy weekend this Father's Day. We spent Saturday with Brett's family and Sunday with my family. Brett got lots of love this weekend as he spent his first Father's Day with Logan. Hard to believe that Logan his 3 weeks old.

Brett is such a blessing to us. He is a great husband and daddy. He loves spending time and playing with Luke, and cuddling with Logan. I look forward to all the years of the boys growing up with such a loving and active father. I thank Brett for all that he does to provide for us, and cherish the all the memories we have shared together thus far. I look forward to our wonderful journey together; and watching and mentoring our boys into Christian men.

Thank you Brett for all that you do and all of your love!

We love you!
Here are some pictures from Saturday spent with Brett's family.

Logan's 3 Week Update

YAY! Logan went for his weight check today! He weighed in at 6 lb, 14 oz. He is just an ounce shy of birth weight. His doctor said to keep doing what we are doing! He is doing great! Glad to know that our home scale is right on track with the doctor's.

So last week, when they measured him he grew a 1/2 inch since his birth. This week I had the nurse remeasure him...because I wanted to make sure they measured right. Well he grew some more is now up to 20 3/8 inches! Crazy how fast they grow!

Logan has been more alert lately! He is looking around, and just gets the cutest look on his face. The look of "what's going on here." We get so tickled by it. He still has his little old man wrinkles on his forehead. And btw...I just LOVE kissing those little wrinkles! It won't be long and they will be gone. I will miss them. LOL! Between the little wrinkles, big blue eyes and the "what's going on" look...it has been burned into my precious memories. I love all the personality coming out through his eyes. He has several looks already! Just too sweet!

Logan's 2 Week Appointment

Little Logan is two weeks today, and we headed out for his 2 week check up. He weighed in at 6 lb, 5.7 oz (5%). He left the hospital weighing 6 lb, 4.2 oz...so he still has a little bit of catching up to do. His length went from 19.25 inches at birth to 19.75 inches (25%). I still cannot believe that he grew a half inch in two weeks. Perhaps that balances out not gaining much weight?!?! Highly doubt it though. His head circumference is 14.25 inches (25%). Overall he is doing great. She was not overly concerned about his weight. We will go back in a week for a weight check to see where he is at.

In the meantime, he continues his routine of eating, sleeping and pooping. He is nursing (a very sleepy nurser) and just started drinking from a bottle. He continues to try and hold his head up...his doctor mentioned how strong he is for such a little fella. That's my peanut!! :) I love to see his little smiles when he sleeps. I once again have a baby who does not like to be swaddled. He MUST have those hands by his face. He loves to be held...and of course this mommy is not complaining at all. I am loving every minute of holding him...which is pretty much all day, every day (since there is not much else I can do in the first 3 weeks).

Logan is such a sweet and precious addition to our family. He is getting lots of love, hugs and kisses from his big brother, daddy and mommy. We are so blessed with our special gift of love!
